Striker situation in the summer
|
How many should we be shifting in or out? I think you can make a good case for all of them, or (this could be unpopular) all of them except Arnautovic. Regardless of what names could come in, how do we handle the players currently on the books? Not discussing Silva. Don’t think it’s fair on him and he’s definitely staying anyway.
Carroll- finished. Waste of a squad space Perez- 99% ineffective. Waste of a squad space. Hugill- never a prem player. Just give him away and put the whole episode behind us. Hernandez- can’t lead the line or play effectively for whole games. Definitely has his merits as a situational player just like yesterday, but I can’t help but feel he’s a luxury we can’t afford given his wages. I like him and he undoubtedly knows where the goal is but I just don’t think he’s worth his massive wages. Not against him staying but we clearly need to buy a number 1 striker if he does.
Arnautovic- way off the boil since the drama. Injury? Attitude? Is he off in the summer anyway? However, there’s no doubt that he’s our best and most complete striker by a distance and we realistically can not ditch ALL of them in one summer.
If it were up to me, I’d keep one of them. Most likely Arnie as if he plays to his potential again then he’s a nightmare for defenders, an all round beast, and a match winner. Second choice Hernandez. None of the others.
What would you do if you were calling the shots?

The rise of the more aggressive buy-back options that big clubs insert into deals makes the likes of Hudson-Odoi, Abraham etc much less appealing as targets. It's self-defeating really if the best-case scenario just means they go back to the club you bought them from - I don't see how that suits us at all.

It cleared a pathway to the England team for Sancho and now Bayern Munich are willing to pay well in excess of £30m to take Hudson-Odoi, whose contract expires at the end of next season.
Fuck me if ever there was an opportunity or even get the boy on loan. Dynamite!

It’d be interesting to see Arnie dropped back to midfield to see if he can run himself back into form. The problem is that we don’t really have another striker good enough to start.
Maybe we could play 4-6-0 like we did under BFS.

Why? The £s cost us the same in which every scenario we would have to pay them.
Basic business, that.

Ultimately, its not what a player costs its what you are prepared to pay them in wages.

Vexed in one post
'Who gives a fuck how much they're being paid if they regularly score?'
Vexed in the next.
'They'll want gazillions for Wilson and he's got a gammy leg.'
Who cares how much he costs? He has scored more goals than any other striker at the club!
How much a footballer costs is either an issue or not. Make your fucking mind up.

Because West Ham United are traditionally absolutely and completely self defeating. Jack FUCKING Wilshere being the newest evidence of this ridiculous behaviour that goes back years. Wilson may not be purchased due to not being injured enough.

After the Carroll injury fiasco, why are we talking about King?

King has scored as many this season as Wilson. Would also cost the earth for a decent but not spectacular player.
I trust Pellegrini to choose well though, hope those cunts give him the funds to get who he wants.

I prefer Joshua King to Wilson. The only reason we keep getting linked to Wilson is he's also on the books of our super-agent.

2 x ACL injuries for Wilson and I think too risky. We don't need another AC on our books. Giroud would do me for a season or 2. It's clear he's had a gut-full of playing for the Plastics.
Maxi Gomez would be my first choice but I think they'll be hoards knocking at his door come the end of the season.

Firstly: you don't know what he earns.
Secondly: he's now our best striker now that Arnie has caught cuntycuntitis. Is that not important?
Thirdly: eat that up.

>>> Raul jimenez .only on loan at wolves .
They have an option to make it a permanent deal. Very likely to take it. Maybe the best signing this season - loans can work.

Vexed.
I think it is Nailed on that Hernandez will be moved on in the summer and the main reason will be because his earnings do not match his importance in the team. That and the fact he probably also wants out to get more minutes.
